In all your years of hair-care management, from stylist consultations and free-with-purchase gifts to party whims, chances are you've thrown some hair products in a cabinet somewhere and forgotten about them.

Paule Attar Salon and Spa in Bellevue wants them.

In an effort to help disadvantaged women feel better about themselves, the salon is holding a summer drive to collect unused (and very slightly used) hair products.

"Often times women get hair products that are freebies and may not have the right composition for their hair type," said salon spokesperson Patricia Vaccarino.

Paule Attar recently conducted a survey with ransom clients and discovered the majority of participants not only had unused hair products lying around, but many have wasted hundreds of dollars trying to find the right product.

Store owners Heinz Mikulka and Paule Attar will donate the collection of hair products to the YWCA of Seattle-King County's Dress for Success Program.

The programs mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career develpment tools to help them thrive in work and life. "We are completely reliant in community support for program services in terms of monetary and volunteeer support and suit donations," said Suzanne Elliot Armstrong, program spokesperson.

Attar took a tour of the YWCA facility in seattle recently and found "they were quite short on hair products, so this will really fill a need for Dress for Success," Vaccarino said.
